Where fun happens because Life’s 2 Short 4 Just 1 Sport

At 2-4-1 we’re all about serious fun and helping children gain Physical Literacy – the ability, confidence and desire to be active for life! DS friendsBy using the 2-4-1 Crossover Effect™, young athletes reduce injury and burnout. We know through increased participation in multiple sports, kids will have the opportunity to unlock their inner-athlete. At 2-4-1 Denver South, we teach kids to compete with character. We know good athletes make good sports. Come see why so many recognize that “Life’s 2 Short 4 Just 1 Sport”.

As Denver South High School will be under renovation this year, we are delighted that Thomas Jefferson High School, just a few miles from Denver South, will be our host this summer!

2-4-1 Sports Gets Recognized as a contributor to the National Physical Literacy Conversation

Each sport session tends to follow a similar format – most with individual skills, group stations, contests of the day, and game PLAY.   All campers will receive a 2-4-1 Sports Denver South t-shirt and the ever-popular 2-4-1 Car Magnet. For a sample schedule of how the day works, click HERE!

All campers participate in 3 sports each day – choose from our 6 fun-filled options:IMG_7470

Basketball, Soccer, Tennis

These 3 Sports are our most traditional options and were offered at our first ever camp in Hartford, CT.  Whether you are a “veteran” of one of these sports, or you’re choosing to try it for the very first time, our instructors will make it a fun experience for you!  Experienced players have the opportunity to advance their skills and learn how they “crossover” to other sports, and beginners get the opportunity to see how prior athtletic experience translate in to these great crossover sports.

Boys Lacrosse

As this is a sports-sampling camp, and we very much would like everyone to try at least one new sport they’ve never tried before, we don’t want equipment to be a deterrent to choosing lacrosse as an option.  With that in mind, we ask that you first try to borrow equipment from friends, but if you’re unable and do not want to make the commitment of a full purchase of equipment, we will have some loner equipment on hand. (We don’t lone mouthguards – that’s gross! 🙂

Boys Lacrosse: Mouthguard, Helmet, Stick, Pads (shoulder, elbow, chest), and Gloves

 Flag Football

junior photo 3coaching 3Modeled after the National Flag Football league so popular in the Denver region, we expect this to be a sport choice that will fill up quickly. On the first day of the activity, the coaches split the teams up evenly and those in the activity participate in a fun-filled league with prizes being awarded for everything from most improved to best to defender to the individual exhibiting the most sportsmanship.

Universal Sports

is inspired by our work with the U.S.Physical Literacy Report and the recommendations coming out of Project Play.  This activity is a true sport-sampling offering in that the campers who choose it as one of their three activities will have a new and exciting sport from around the globe waiting for them to try!  Infused with free-play opportunities, Universal Sports is often a camp favorite!

Volleyball –

This co-ed offering will expose athletes to the fundamental skills of volleyball, and allow them to experience the joy of small-sided play as well as the rules of competitive high school and collegiate volleyball.

Groove and Move –

When we first started 2-4-1 Sports camps back in 2008, we were known for the random dance parties that would seem to break out spontaneously after lunch.  So while fun and music has always been part of the culture at 2-4-1, we are thrilled to be offering our first dance-based offering at one of our camps.   Groove and Move will be offered like any of our other sport offerings and provide opportunity for play based movement games that teach dance along the way!

Times: 9:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m. (Before and aftercare is available).
