Junior 241

For boys and girls going into grades 1 and 2 (fall of 2020)
While the times and dates of Junior 241 are the same as our traditional camp, the programming itself is age-appropriately different. In keeping in line with the “241 Crossover Effect” – we see it as so important that these youngest athletes crossover to our traditional program having had the most positive of experiences. With that in mind – our staff focuses on infusing skill instruction into serious fun! We want their first introduction to multiple-sports to be one where they leave asking for more! Junior campers don’t choose sports - we bring the sports to them!

Charlie Mitchell – A Message from our Camp Director

Having grown up on a boarding school campus, I am a life-long member of the independent school world and am a passionate believer in the power of small-school education in helping young-adults maximize their potential. Over the last 26 years I have served both high schools and middle schools as a teacher, administrator, advisor and coach. Currently, I teach History, English and Theater to grades 7 and 8 at The Independent Day School as well as serve as an Advisor, soccer coach, club-sponsor and as the Director of Secondary School Placement, a role that allows me to support students and families as they search for a high school that will serve as the best match. In addition to mostly teaching and coaching on campus, over the years I have traveled near and far attending and presenting at conferences, taking students on both academic and athletic trips, and recruiting and fund-raising. I have enjoyed working with a wide cross-section of students from all different backgrounds and experiences, with an incredible range of interests and talents, on a variety of different curricula, projects and challenges. However, no matter the endeavor, the driving force has always been about making everything a learning experience and pushing ourselves to excellence.
