About Camp

Registration Coming Soon! (And yes – this is an event, not a camp, but our site is set up this way 🙂

In 2020, ASICS athlete Johnny Gregorek set the world record for the Blue Jean Mile, running a 4:06.25 in blue jeans!  His goal for the event was to raise awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of NYC (NAMI-NYC). In an effort to build an annual event around Gregorek’s efforts, ASICS is leaning into the work he started to elevate the importance of mental health and finding the ultimate balance.

This past fall, beloved West Hartford resident and friend of both 2-4-1 and Fleet Feet, Jason Hannigan took his own life after an ongoing battle with his own mental health.  (Read Jason’s obituary, written by his wife Mary Painter who will be present at the event – HERE).

West Hartford based nonprofit, 2-4-1 CARE is teaming up with Fleet Feet Hartford to host our own Blue Jean Mile in Jason’s memory and to raise awareness about local resources that focus on movement and mental health.

Proceeds will go to fund free 2-4-1 programs in the Hartford area that focus on skill-based social emotional learning development through sport.

Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite blue jeans as they walk, jog or a mile on Conard High School’s track. We will offer several heats based on anticipated mile times, as well as one for kids (parents can run with their kids) and an Elite Heat for runners looking to set the record in Hartford – maybe even break Gregorak’s record! The male and female winners of the Elite heat will win a pair of ASICS shoes!

We encourage as many folks who are able to come wearing their favorite jeans and to complete a mile whether you’re walking, jogging or trying to break Gregorak’s record.

It promises to be a fun event for the whole family as 2-4-1 will have multisport games and activities set up for all to participate in.

Tuition

We ask for a suggested minimum donation of $20.00 for all particpants/entries, but welcome larger amounts to help support our programs that focus on the benefits of proactively addressing mental health.
